You have had a thoracoscopy. This involved examining your chest from the inside.
The thoracoscopy involved examining the space between your lungs.We have 2 lungs. Various organs lie between the lungs, such as the heart, trachea (windpipe) and oesophagus (gullet). These organs are surrounded by connective tissue.
First of all, a small incision was made in the skin at the front of your neck. A tube with a camera was inserted through this incision. This camera sent pictures of the inside of your body to a screen. Instruments such as forceps and scissors can be inserted through other small incisions in the chest.
